THA Affiliates and Subsidiaries

THA’s organization includes subsidiaries and affiliates that strengthen the Association’s support for Texas hospitals.

Texas Healthcare Trustees

THT LogoFounded in 1961, the mission of the Texas Healthcare Trustees is to provide a leadership, educational and advocacy role for governing board members of the Texas health care industry. THT’s offerings include educational forums, statewide and regional trustee orientation and refresher programs, online education and information, guidebooks on hospital and health system governance, the bimonthly Trustee Bulletin, and numerous leadership opportunities on both the statewide and national levels.

THT members also participate in THA’s advocacy activities through the Trustee Network of Texas, which serves as a national model for trustee grassroots advocacy efforts in other states. THT membership includes nearly 500 Texas hospitals and health systems, representing more than 4,000 trustees across the state.

The Texas Academy of Governance, a program of the THT Foundation, sets standards for effective core governance competencies, and encourages voluntary practice of these standards to achieve excellence in health care governance.

HealthShare/THA

Health ShareHealthShare/THA has helped THA members save millions of dollars through pricing discounts secured with select services and companies. Each service or company undergoes extensive evaluation and analysis prior to selection for HealthShare/THA endorsement. Routine ongoing evaluations ensure that every endorsed company maintains rigid standards of quality and service required to sustain its HealthShare/THA endorsement.

HealthShare/THA also manages/markets the THA Voluntary Insurance Programs, THA Retirement Plan and THA Patient Data System, and provides the due diligence, endorsement and management of endorsed companies to the Oklahoma Hospital Association, the Texas Healthcare Trustees and the Greater San Antonio Hospital Council. Approximately 12,000 hospital and health care employees statewide participate in the THA Retirement Plan, which has assets of nearly $350 million.

By returning profits to THA, HealthShare/THA supports the Association’s activities and helps stabilize dues paid by THA-member hospitals and health systems.

Texas Hospital Insurance NetworK

imageThe Texas Hospital Insurance NetworK supports THA’s efforts to improve the economic opportunities of the hospital-based health care industry. THINK manages the Texas Hospital Insurance Exchange, which provides dependable, competitively priced liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage designed specifically for the Texas health care market. THIE insures approximately 65 percent of the small/rural hospital market in Texas.
