Quality and Patient Safety
In 2003, the Legislature expanded its data collection and reporting activities to include nine specific medical errors that occasionally occur in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. And, in 2005, lawmakers directed a panel of experts to develop recommendations on the specifics of reporting health care-associated infection rates for these facilities. During 2007, legislators will consider the extension of existing reporting requirements for medical errors, and act on the panel’s recommendations for reporting health care-associated infections.
