topics in Texas health care, the Texas Hospital Association’s 2007 Leadership Conference has something for everyone!
- Gain insight into the future political landscape and what it might mean for health care with Paul Begala, CNN political analyst and former aide to President Bill Clinton.
- Get the latest on the state’s Medicaid reform efforts and the health care budget from Health and Human Services Executive Commissioner Albert Hawkins and Texas Comptroller Susan Combs.
- An in-depth discussion of the recent end-of-life care debate and Texas’ advance directives law will feature medical ethicists Howard Brody, M.D., and Robert Fine, M.D., Rep. Dianne White Delisi, Texas Advance Directives Coalition Chairman Greg Hooser, and hospital attorney and spokesperson Michael Regier, J.D.
- THA award recipients will be honored at a very special luncheon with keynote speaker Lee Woodruff, wife of ABC News journalist Bob Woodruff and co-author of In an Instant, about his journey back to health following a critical injury in Iraq. A book-signing will follow the luncheon.
- Special breakout sessions will feature topics of interest to nursing leaders (the Texas Organization of Nurse Executives is meeting in conjunction with THA’s conference) and continuing education credits will be available for all sessions.

Rural Hospital Forum
Registration for the THA Leadership Conference also includes the Rural Hospital Forum, which begins on the afternoon of Oct. 16 and continues the following morning. Featured speakers at the annual rural conference include Paul David Moore, D.Ph., president of the National Rural Health Association, and Bob Phillips, best known as the Texas Country Reporter.
Optional Event: ACHE Category I Education Program
Members of the American College of Healthcare Executives have the option of registering for an additional ACHE Category I education program, Hospital of the Future: Why Being Great Will Increasingly Matter, held after the conference from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Oct. 16. This is an ideal opportunity to earn ACHE Category I continuing education credits!
